PHOTOGRAPHY

Below is a collection of my photography for my writing.

While writing a feature story on the growth of unions in America, I was able to photograph multiple protests in San Francisco. The image immediately to the left is of a Starbucks Workers United group, and the two directly below it depict a march of United Automobile Workers outside of University of California San Francisco clinic. From this experience, I learned how to capture moments of activism and group collaboration with focus on the surrounding setting.

These images are the result of my participation in Oakland's first Lunar New Year x Black History Month event which celebrated the intersections of two communities. Through my photography, I hoped to convey the way that Black and Asian communities were able to seamlessly coexist together and celebrate and share their intertwined histories. Many photos depict people observing the pieces of joint history displayed on the walls.
